My personal childhood web could possibly go on for quite some time however there are 5 individuals whom I hold near and dear to my heart. ...
I too chose NBCDI to learn more about. I had never heard of this organization before this course. In rural America, children of color are at a disadvantage. Resources are limited, households are at or below poverty level, and so often early childhood education is not available or not high quality. I look forward to learning more about this organization and how it helps the communities around the country. In my own community, I would like to bring this organization to light for better resources.

ReplyDeleteI choose the NBCDI to learn more about as well. As a mother of two black children, I felt compelled to join this organization, to be current about ongoing issues that need to be addressed. It is imperative as educators, that we broaden out awareness on pertinent issues that could potentially threaten the lives of children. We need to be diligent on behalf of all children and be proactive globally to help bring about change.
ReplyDeleteI think looking at the NBCDI is so important because the gap of education for black children is so large and needs to be closed quickly. I work in an ECE program and the few black children we do have in the program have an obvious gap to them from the other children when they start with us. Not because of what we do, but because of education they've received (or lack thereof) before they enter our doors. This organization is so important and I'm going to look into it as we move along just so I can get a feel for resources I may be able to offer parents.
ReplyDeleteAnnierose!
ReplyDeleteI feel the major factor that is preventing children of color from having the same access and recourses like their counterparts is inequity. I never knew that NBCDI existed until now and now in 2021 with a new President and with new minds "woke". I hope that this word "inequity" gets permanently reversed to " equity for all !".
I share your thought process for changing "inequity". Our black and brown communities need a fair and equal chance to thrive and level the playing feld.
DeleteI chose the NBCDI because it was a new organization that I had never learned about before. Learning about the organization was intriguing and it touched my heart to see how much they have invested into helping assure that all children receive equal opportunity and education. Great job I love the layout, and the organization of words.
ReplyDeleteGreetings Beautiful Black Queen! Great layout! I feel your passion about learning more about how making a difference in the world. Black communities need our knowledge and service. The choices you have selected seem to educate you as an educator and keep you abreast on how to deal with issues in the Black community. Blessings to you along this journey.
ReplyDeleteThank you truly. Blessings to you as we travel this path!
DeleteI love that you chose NBCDI. It gives us an opportunity to learn about something we hadn't before. There are times when we can expand our horizons beyond curriculum. Curriculum can often limit what we pursue, both for students and teachers. We have the ability–and perhaps a moral obligation–to provide students and staff with chances to advance their learning and broaden their view of the world.
